It was not a good day at the office for Southampton yesterday.
Claude Puel's side were well-beaten by Manchester City, who turned on the style in the second half to claim a deserved 3-0 win.
Vincent Kompany headed home the opener with a goal that clearly meant a lot to him, before Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero added gloss on the win at St Mary's.
But a big talking point coming out of the game was Shane Long, who came on as a substitute for James Ward-Prowse in the 60th minute as Southampton looked to get back in the game. The scoreline was 1-0 at this point.
But bizarrely, the Irishman lasted just 22 minutes and was replaced by Jay Rodriguez. Southampton fans were puzzled, as were the BT Sport commentators.
Long was on the receiving end of a tough tackle from Nicolas Otamendi but his reaction to being taken off showed that he very much wanted to carry on.
As he walked off the pitch, the former Hull and West Brom man glared at Claude Puel and his assistant - clearly absolutely furious at being subbed off.

One would expect there to be a tense chat between player and manager when Monday morning rolls around.
It seems like this one is being put down to miscommunication, as Long clearly wanted to play on.
Can you think of any other instances where a player was subbed on and then subbed off?
