It's just unfair...

Didier Deschamps' France side took on Paris Saint-Germain Under 19's side as they gear up for the World Cup and ironically, it was men against boys stuff.

Les Bleus took on the Republic of Ireland in a friendly on Monday, resting several of their big-hitters in the 2-0 win.

The likes of Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele and Paul Pogba were all not involved but France decided to ensure the trio, along with other players, kept up their match sharpness by arranging a friendly game with PSG's youngsters.

Unsurprisingly, the gulf in class was there to see and you'll feel sympathy for the young lads just from the highlights in the 5-0 game.

Griezmann, who was top scorer with six goals in the European Championship on home soil two years back, was in the mood and helped himself to two.

Dembele endured a difficult season with injury at Barcelona following his mega move from Borussia Dortmund but tore the defenders a new one here. He too bagged a brilliant brace and was at the heart of all the devastating attacking play from France.

Marseille's Florian Thauvin, scorer of 25 goals in all competitions in 2017/18, was also on in the act.

It may well have only been a bunch of PSG's young prospects but the 1998 winners are evidently one of the favourites going into the showpiece in Russia thanks in large part to their frightening attacking options.

With Olivier Giroud, Nabil Fekir, Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappe is also in the squad, it's basically unfair how many options France have going forward. Kingsley Coman, Alexandre Lacazette and Anthony Martial would walk into most national teams yet they find themselves surplus to requirements for the upcoming tournament.

But France's strength isn't limited to their attack. Their midfield is well-balanced, as is their backline despite an unfortunate injury to Laurent Koscielny.

With a pretty straightforward group featuring Australia, Denmark and Peru, you'd back the French to go pretty far in Russia.
