WATCH: Hope Solo Has Foul Mouthed Reaction To Receiving National Team Suspension

“17 f***ing years and it’s over!”

To say Hope Solo has taken her suspension from the US Women's National Team badly would be a tremendous understatement. America's number one for the last 17 years has had her contract with the national side terminated, effective immediately, following comments she made in the wake of the United States' quarter-final elimination at the hands of Sweden at the Olympic Games.

Following that penalty shoot-out loss in Brazil, Solo, who is a two time Olympic Champion and a World Cup winner with her country, branded the Swedes "cowards" for the tactics they employed during the game and the former Seattle Reign 'keeper was subsequently punished as a result, bringing an end to her glittering 17-year international career.

Solo received her suspension in person from USWNT head coach Jill Ellis and Dan Flynn of U.S. Soccer, in Seattle and, in front of Fullscreen cameras filming for documentary 'Keeping Score', lashed out as her husband Jerramy Stevens attempted to console her, shouting "17 f***ing years and it's over!"as she broke down in tears.

Whatever your opinion of Solo as a person might be, there's no denying she's been a fantastic goalkeeper throughout her career and is a bona fide legend of the women's game. If this is to be the end of her phenomenal international career, it's a shame it's happened in such bitter circumstances.
