He was absolutely devastated.

Prior to tonight's Europa League semi-final second leg with Manchester United, Celta Vigo's John Guidetti said "Manchester is blue, and that's how it will be when we visit there as well, because we are Celta Vigo and we will try to keep the city blue."

After he passed that comment, the former Manchester City striker missed an open goal from eight yards out to give Manchester United a pass to the Europa League final.

With literally seconds left, Guidetti swiped at the ball but failed to convert as Jose Mourinho celebrated on the touchline.

Guidetti was also involved in another controversial incident during the game. The striker acrobatically dived when 'hit' in the face by Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, who was then given a red card for his actions.

Bailly will now miss the Europa League final after the sending off.

Despite his absence, Manchester United will surely be favourites to lift the trophy come May 24th as they travel to Stockholm on 24 May 2017.

Celta Vigo did show promise during the tie, and should have converted a number of huge chances during the game.

but Marouane Fellaini's goal in the first half secured the win, as the Reds look to lift the Europa League trophy for the first time in their 115 year history.

It seems the Belgian likes an important goal. Fellaini has now scored in a FA Cup semi final, EFL Cup semi final and now in an Europa League semi final for Manchester United.

It was a landmark goal for the Reds:

Can Manchester United lift the Europa League trophy at the end of May? Or will Ajax reign victorious?
