A Lionel Messi penalty secured the win for the Argentina.

Argentina and Chile met in a huge World Cup qualifying clash last night and it was La Albiceleste that picked up the win.

Argentina have had a great amount of difficulty against Chile in recent years and lost the Copa America final on penalties to their South American opponents two years on the trot - with the second instance causing Lionel Messi to briefly retire from international football.

However, the result was flipped on its head last night as Messi's first-half penalty did the business for Argentina at El Monumental.

And instead, it was Chile's Alexis Sanchez who was visibly frustrated at the end of the game.

He was absolutely furious about the defeat and cameras captured the Arsenal star throwing his toys out of the pram at the end of the game.

The loss for Chile means that at present they are sixth in the qualifying rankings for the 2018 World Cup Russia. Only four of South America's teams reach the competition and as it stands, the 2016 Copa America winners are not one of those teams.

It's further disappointment for Sanchez, who has becoming increasingly frustrated at Arsenal in recent times.

In January, he was clearly annoyed after Arsenal dallied with the ball in the final minutes away at Bournemouth.

He was also far from happy at being substituted in an away win over Swansea in the same month.

When Arsenal were destroyed by Bayern Munich earlier this month though, all Sanchez could do was crack a wry smile.

Chile have another huge qualifying game against bottom side Venezuela in the international break and if they don't win that, Sanchez's meltdown will surely continue.

What do you make of Sanchez's antics? Is he just showing his will to win or is it embarrassing for him to act in such a way?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
