There was massive scepticism when Real Madrid forked out €45 million to land a 16-year old Vinicius Junior from Flamengo but it does look like he has the potential to be something very special.
Now 18, Vinicius impressed in pre-season with the first-team and has been in good form for the club's Castilla outfit, scoring three times, including twice in the mini-derby against Atletico.
And he's been doing the business on the international stage too, recording a quite outrageous assist for Brazil's Under 20 side against Chile.

He collected the ball in his own half, humiliated the full-back by flicking the ball past him and bombing down the left at some speed before having the composure to pick out Rodrygo Goes, who fired home.
The combination has excited plenty of Real Madrid fans excited, given that Rodrygo will be the next Brazilian teenager prodigy to head to the Spanish capital for a €45 million fee.

Real beat rivals Barcelona to his signature and he is poised to join in January once he turns 18 - which was the case with Vinicius as he didn't officially make the move until July.
What we saw last night could well be a glimpse into the future for Los Blancos if both players develop properly. Vinicius, in particular, looks an absolute nightmare to play against. He just leaves defenders in his wake like it's the easiest thing in the world.
