An Aston Villa fan has secured himself a ticket to the Carabao Cup final after buying a ticket for Manchester City's game against West Ham on Wednesday.
The Villains take on City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium next week and with City embarking on their 19th trip to the national stadium, the club are struggling to sell out their end.
As a result, the club opted to change their ticketing strategy and in an unprecedented step, made it so that you could qualify for up to three tickets if you attended a game at the Etihad Stadium this season.
Twitter user @VillaWill84 caught wind of this and decided to buy a ticket for City's 2-0 victory over West Ham United.
This villa fan bought a ticket to the city game yesterday so he meets their requirements for a ticket in the city end for the cup final. Great idea https://t.co/4jaF8Clqum- :flag_it: Tom (@CarIoMagnifico) February 20, 2020
His attendance at the rearranged game means is now going to watch his beloved Villa in a cup final, though he will have to be careful given he's going to be in the City section of the ground.
A City spokesman told The Telegraph a "small number in the high prices" were still available to purchase and on the flipside, Villa believe they would be able to sell out Wembley by themselves.
For their FA cup semi-final with Brighton last year, City sent around 2,000 tickets back to the FA, with the returned tickets the most expensive £120 seats .
