Iceland international Vidar Örn Kjartansson was asked the most awkward and bizarre question after re-signing for Valerenga in Norway.

The 30-year-old striker, who played for the likes of Malmo, FC Rostov, Jiangsu Sainty and Hammarby IF, has signed a deal until 2023 and was officially unveiled on Friday.

It's a big signing in Norwegian football, with Kjartansson having scored 31 goals in 33 appearances for the club in his first spell back in 2014.

Today, he took part in a press conference and a number of different media duties and one of the interviews went in a very weird direction.

The journalist was basically asking him about negative reaction from some fans of Swedish club Hammarby regarding him rejecting them and instead returning to a Valerenga.

As per Norwegian sports journalist Jonas Giaever, there's been an online beef between the two sets of supporters and the reporter was quoted word-for-word an abusive tweet from a Hammarby fan in response to the club's announcement tweet.

It included the phrases "Norwegian wh***s" and "suck "c**k you seal f***ers" and the player's reaction was one of shock as he said "OK" before adding, "I'm not going to translate this in Norwegian".

Clearly, he didn't know how to respond to such a question and frankly we're not sure there is a way one could.

The 30 second clip from the interview has been widely shared on social, with plenty of people baffled at the line of questioning utilised.

Having joined Valerenga for a second time, Kjartansson is in line to make his debut for the club in the game against Brann on 13 September.
