Former Spurs midfielder Victor Wanyama was involved in one of the greatest trades ever over the weekend when he swapped his shirt for some spaghetti.

The Kenya international is now plying his trade in the MLS with CF Montreal and had just seen his side lose 2-1 to New England Revolution.

But when he spotted a fan displaying a quite incredible spaghetti-related sign, Wanyama could not ignore it.

"Will trade spaghetti for kit," was the message, accompanied by a picture of Wanyama with the popular type of pasta.

As he was walking back down the tunnel and into the changing rooms after the defeat, Wanyama paused and removed his shirt before handing it to the fan, who was wearing a Spurs jacket.

But staying true to the pledge on the sign, the supporterin the stands promptly passed him some spaghetti - prompting a smile from the ex Celtic and Southampton man. Just superb scenes.

The context behind the whole thing is fantastic. In 2012, Wanyama produced a series of hilarious tweets, including posts related to the film Paranormal Activity and discovering Pancake Tuesday.

But undoubtedly, the very best was his simple statement: "I had spaghetti and it was very nice i enjoyed it".

It still racks up some serious engagement today and will never not be brilliant. When Spurs signed him in 2016, of course the club had to announce him with a picture where he was happily holding some spaghetti - as well as a nod to his viral tweet.

He was even talking about his favourite food during his first interview with Spurs.

Wanyama said: "I like to cook and I love spaghetti - that's why I tweeted it. I like some other food but not like spaghetti!"
