An angry Lionel Messi is a very dangerous proposition, as Real Mallorca manager Vicente Moreno found out.

Moreno and Messi had a bit of a spat in the first half of their last meeting back in December, with the Blaugrana talisman telling the opposite coach that Barcelona would score seven.

That didn't quite happen, but Messi would score a hat-trick in a 5-2 victory. Moreno's players blamed him for riling up Messi and he has gone on record to say it was quite the learning experience.

"My players told me after the game that I had been the culprit for the defeat because I had angered Messi," Moreno revealed in a YouTube interview with Edu Pino, as per MARCA.

"He was angry and, in the tunnel at the break, he told me they were going to score seven and he told Luis Suarez that they had to score seven.

"They did not manage to do it, but he scored three. He is the best player in the world.

"Look at his genius, his character and his rage wanting to win and what happened gives it more value. This time I will not get into fights. It's no good for me."

After a long lay-off due to the COVID-19 outbreak, La Liga has returned this weekend in Spain.

Moreno's Mallorca come up against Messi and his Barcelona colleagues this evening and clearly the 45-year old will not want to repeat the same mistake again.

Thierry Henry once told a legendary story of how Messi reacted angrily in a Barcelona training session.

Henry recalled a time when his teammate was fouled in training and didn't receive a free-kick from his coach.

"So when the ball went back to his goalkeeper, he (Messi) ran back and demanded the ball," Henry said in a fascinating extract from Rio Ferdinand's autobiography.

"The goalkeeper rolled him the ball, and Messi then proceeded to run through the entire team and score in anger."
