Usain Bolt Names The Three Players He'd Have In A 4x100m Race
Usain Bolt briefly tried his hand at football and believes Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Gareth Bale would be perfectly suited to his world of sprinting.
The world's fastest man was asked in Q&A with FIFA.com which players he would have with him in a 4x100m relay race and picked three absolute speed merchants.
Ronaldo, now 34, has showed no signs of slowing down and sprinted 92 metres inside 10 seconds during a Serie A game against Napoli earlier this month, while Mbappe is widely deemed to be the fastest player in world football and Bale too has some serious pace to burn.
The fastest player in the business today, however, is Flamengo winger Bruno Henrique. The 28-year-old reached supersonic speeds of 38 km/h in the Copa Libertadores quarter-final against Internacional back in August, setting a new record.
When you consider Bolt averaged 37.6 km/h when he broke the 100m World Record in 2009, it's clear to see that Henrique has quite the dart in his locker.
Bolt, meanwhile, was hopeful of a career in football having trialled with A-League side Central Coast Mariners but confirmed earlier this year that his venture was officially over before it really got going.
"I don't want to say it wasn't dealt with properly, but I think we went about it, not the way we should and you learn your lesson, you live and you learn," the eight-time Olympic Gold medalist said, as per ESPN.
"It was a good experience. I really enjoyed just being in a team and it was different from track and field and it was fun while it lasted."
