Umtiti has been plagued by injury since arriving from Lyon in 2016 and he's yet to make an appearance this season.
It appears he isn't in Xavi's plans and a departure is probably best for both parties, given scenes on Wednesday afternoon.
Footage shared by El Chiringuito shows fans approaching the 28-year-old as he sits at a red light.

One even jumps on the bonnet before Umtiti beeps to move them out the way.
However, the France international then stopped further up the road and got out to get face to face with his abusers.
They attempted to play the situation cool and tried to get Umtiti to pose for selfies.
Umtiti can then be heard in furious conversation off camera and Football-Espana have reported him saying: "Come here. Do you pay for the car? Why do you mess around? Do you know what respect is?"
He return to his car to drive off and the same fans followed him back and continued to be a nuisance.
Fans have reacted to the footage and they agree Umtiti didn't deserve that treatment.
This is absolutely disgraceful ♂️ behaviour. Football is always secondary to mutual respect between human beings. https://t.co/Xb4vkA4f2S- Rajiv United Nepal (@rajiv_nepal) December 1, 2021

Footballers are treated like they're not human. Never any respect and people act like they're robots https://t.co/NVaHeVA6Bx- ً (@Gall1ani) December 1, 2021

Back in August, Umtiti was booed by Barca fans just a day after Lionel Messi's departure was confirmed.
Barcelona offered to release Umtiti and Miralem Pjanic from their respective deals in a desperate bid to reduce their wage bill.
Umtiti, who was reportedly linked with Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham in the summer, wanted to stay at Barcelona for the new La Liga season.
Barcelona are currently eighth in La Liga and are planning a major rebuild in the next few years.
