Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold has made Champions League final history.

The 20-year-old has been superb for Liverpool this season. He's weighed in with an impressive 16 assists in all competitions from right-back, including his stunning corner-kick against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final second leg.

And the England starlet has now made history after starting against Tottenham in Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold is the youngster player to start consecutive Champions League finals since Christian Panucci, who started for AC Milan in both the 1993/94 and 1994/95 Champions League finals.

The Italian defender was 22 when he lined up for his second successive Champions League final back in 1995.

Alexander-Arnold does not turn 21 until October 7 so he has re-written history.

Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Alexander-Arnold, hailing him as a "perfect example" for the next generation.

"You need to be normal football player with extraordinary skills," he said.

"For example, I saw Kylian Mbappe when he was 16 and everybody knew then just wow he was going to be amazing.

"And he is a nice kid, and a world-class player. He's a good example for the next generation.

"Trent Alexander-Arnold is also the perfect example. From day one he did everything he should have done by being himsef. His ethos was, I have to learn so I will learn and there will be a day when I play.

"When the day comes where he is not playing he is not questioning me and asking why not, he knows I've thought about it so he doesn't have to. That's pretty smart from him to be honest."
