Zinedine Zidane has identified his preferred choice to replace Sergio Ramos in the long-term at Real Madrid. Ramos is now 34 and has still been incredibly important for the Spanish side.

Zinedine Zidane thinks it's time to bring in some new recruits at Real Madrid.

With Sergio Ramos now 34-years-old, Zidane wants to bring in a replacement for the Spanish legend. Even though Madrid are already stacked at centre back with Raphael Varane and Eder Militao, However they are aware that they will require a new defender to be the long-term replacement for Ramos.

Madrid are reportedly targeting RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano as the Ramos successor according to AS.

The RB Leipzig defender is one of the most coveted centre-backs in world football after he stole the show for the Bundesliga side during their 2-1 UEFA Champions League victory over Real's rivals Atletico Madrid.

They will however face a challenge from several clubs with Upamecano's release clause being active in the summer of 2021 for just over £40 million.

Upamecano signed a new contract with RB Leipzig this month but looks to be on his way out from the German side.

The defender was heavily praised for his performance against Atletico Madrid last week, after showing his speed, strength and confidence in possession.

He marked Diego Costa out of the game, with BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas saying there 'was no point Costa even being there' and Rio Ferdinand adding that Upamecano had 'manhandled' the 31-year-old striker.
