Wissam Ben Yedder has completed his stunning move to AS Monaco from Sevilla for a reported £37 million.

Ben Yedder leaves Spain after three prolific years in the La Liga. He passed his medical on Tuesday with the French club officially announcing the signing of the 29-year-old striker this morning.

Ben Yedder was the subject of intense transfer speculation following his superb 2018/19 campaign, where he scored 30 goals in all competitions.

Manchester United, among others, were believed to be keeping tabs on the player, but AS Monaco have fended off fierce competition to land the talented French forward.

He's already enjoyed a spell in France's top flight with Toulouse between 2010 to 2016. He scored 63 league goals during his time with the club.

"I am very happy to be involved with AS Monaco," Ben Yedder told the club's official website. "I felt a strong desire on the part of the club to have me come.

"I chose Monaco because I believe in this project and I am determined to do everything possible to go after our common goals. I come with the intention to prove, as always, my qualities and with the desire to reach a new level.

"I want to thank the club for the trust it gives me. It's a beautiful day and the beginning of a new story that I cannot wait to start."

Vice-president Oleg Petrov added: "Wissam is a player of great talent, a complete striker, who proved in Toulouse and Seville, but also in international competitions, all his sense of purpose. He is also a player with an exemplary mentality.

"His arrival is an important moment for Monaco. It demonstrates our desire to build an ambitious team to achieve the goals of the club."

Ben Yedder is AS Monaco's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Gelson Martins, Benjamin Lecomte, Ruben Aguilar and Henry Onyekuru.
