Cristiano Ronaldo admitted that he would love to come back to Manchester United in 2014 amid reports of a sensational return to Old Trafford.

Juventus reportedly want to get rid of Ronaldo to balance their books with United believed to be interested in resigning him next summer.

And it appears the 35-year-old has harboured ambitions of playing for The Red Devils again since 2014.

Speaking about his former club, he said: "I love Manchester. Everyone knows that. Manchester is in my heart.

"The supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day."

Six years on and he could finally realise his dream with United trying to convince him to resign for next season.

Football journalist Christian Martin claims the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is considering the move.

He tweeted: "LAST MOMENT: our sources in Manchester and Porto confirm that Manchester United tempted Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to the club for next season.

"The Portuguese analyzes it. Juventus would negotiate it if he asks for it."

The Portuguese international spent six glorious seasons at United, winning three Premier League titles and the Champions League, among other trophies.

He's in the third season of his four-year contract at Juventus with reports suggesting it could be his last year in Italy.

Though United face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain who're also keeping tabs on the player's situation.

The French giant's sporting director Leonardo refused to rule out the possibility of signing the superstar forward.

When asked about Ronaldo, he said: "Today in football, we do not know what will happen. Maybe tomorrow Cristiano Ronaldo wakes up and says I want to go play elsewhere.

"Who can buy him? It's a closed circle. PSG enters this circle. Usually, it is about opportunities, situations.

"The transfer window, we have to prepare for it and that's what we do. We have our priorities, our lists, but something unforeseen can happen."
