Wesley Sneijder is edging closer to a new club and, sorry Manchester United fans, but once again, the Dutchman isn't making his way to Old Trafford.

Not that any Red Devils fans were eagerly anticipating the former Inter Milan man's arrival, given that this is perhaps the first summer transfer window in seven years in which Sneijder hasn't been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

However, one club that has held an interest in the Champions League winning playmaker is OGC Nice and now, it appears as though the Ligue Un club are close to getting their man.

Sneijder bought himself out of his contract at Galatasaray for €4.5 million, allowing him to move wherever he pleases and, although there was big money interest from new MLS franchise Los Angeles FC as well as his hometown club of Utrecht, it looks as if Sneijder will opt for the south of France, instead.

According to Dutch website VI, the 33-year-old will go the way of Mario Balotelli and sign up for the Ligue Un outfit, who helped revive the Italian striker's career, last season and Hatem Ben Arfa's the season before that.

Should Sneijder put pen to paper on a deal at the Allianz Riviera in the coming days, he would be eligible to face former club Ajax, where he made his name, in his debut for the French club.

Sneijder spent five years in Istanbul, making 173 appearances for Gala, scoring 45 goals and lifting eight major honours with the Turkish giants.
