One Swedish international may have left Manchester United, this afternoon, but another may soon be jetting in, with reports in Portugal claiming that Benfica defender Victor Lindelof is set to undergo a medical with the Old Trafford club in the coming days.

United have been heavily linked with the 22-year-old since the January transfer window, when it appeared that a deal had been done, only for Jose Mourinho to opt out, deciding that the revitalised partnership of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo was his preferred partnership for the remainder of the 2016/17 campaign.

However, since the season drew to a close, the Lindelof rumours have kicked into gear again, with the Swede dismissing the links in recent days.

Despite Lindelof's dismissals, Record in Portugal are now claiming that a €40 million deal for the Benfica man has been agreed and the club have reached an agreement on personal terms, also.

Due to international commitments, Lindelof's medical won't be able to be conducted until Wednesday at the earliest, with Benfica set to receive an initial €35 million plus another €5 million in add ons for their Swedish centre-half.

And, just to whet United fan's appetites a bit further, here's a compilation of some of Lindelof's best bits, displaying the main assets of his game.

The Swedish defender appears comfortable and reliable on the ball and likes to maraud forward, occasionally beating players and continuing into the attack.

Should Lindelof's medical be completed without a hitch, he and Eric Bailly could form a formidable partnership at the heart of Mourinho's United defence. Two young, athletic centre-halves is something United have lacked since the days of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

Lindelof has made 72 appearances for Benfica since being promoted into the first team as an 18-year-old, four years ago and also has 11 international caps to his name, scoring one goal for his country, who he represented during last year's European Championships, in France.
