A sensational report in Spain has claimed that Thiago Alcantara is 'about to leave Bayern Munich and sign for Manchester United'.

Thiago continues to be linked with a move this summer.

The Spanish midfielder looked on the verge of joining newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool but after months of speculation, Jurgen Klopp's side will not pursue a deal for the player, according to ESPN, who believe The Reds will only make a move in the transfer market if a 'significant member' of the squad is sold.

It does look likely that Thiago will leave the Bundesliga side this summer. In addition to rumours that Thiago has already put his house up for sale in Munich today, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinze Rummenigge has confirmed that the Spaniard is looking for a new challenge.

But in a surprising twist, it is being reported that the midfielder is about to join the ranks at Old Trafford.

In a report about Thiago's brother, Rafinha, Catalan newspaper Sport claim in the piece that Thiago is about to leave Bayern Munich and sign for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Shortly after the report emerged online, respected German journalist Christian Falk, who is head of football at SPORTBILD, refused to rule out the move.

As mentioned earlier, Bayern's CEO Karl-Heinze Rummenigge has confirmed that Thiago wants a new venture this summer.

"We had serious negotiations with him and fulfilled all of his wishes. But it looks like he might want to do something new again at the end of his career," he told BILD.

"We have never had any contact with Liverpool. If he wants to do that, we have to deal with it.

"We don't want to lose a player for free next year. I say that very clearly."

Do you think Thiago would be a good signing for Manchester United considering their strength in depth in midfield positions right now?
