During his short time in the game, the supremely talented Angel Gomes has made a real impact at Manchester United.

He is the youngest player to score a hat-trick for United's academy in 15 years and after making his debut last season, replacing Wayne Rooney to become the first Premier League player to be born in the 2000s, Gomes has continued to impress for both club and country.

That being said, the 17-year-old has yet to sign his first professional contact and a number of clubs have expressed an interest in the player, including Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, who are set to swoop for the winger.

Dortmund continued to build their franchise of young talent by signing England U17 star Jadon Sancho in the summer, and now they want international teammate Angel Gomes among their ranks, according to the Daily Mail.

Gomes has yet to sign a contract at Old Trafford, which means that he could leave for a minimal fee in the transfer window, if he decides against signing a new deal at Manchester United.

Back in October 2016, Gomes alerted Barcelona scouts after a number of impressive performances for club and country. But he kept his feet on the ground and showed maturity.

Many people have asked whether Gomes will leave Manchester United in the future, but during an interview with SPORTbible earlier this year, the youngster did confirm that he wants to stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.

"In five years time, I would like to be playing professionally for Manchester United. Winning titles is huge for me. I want to play international football, play in World Cups and European Championships. I want to be the best player at my age level.

"I set myself high standards and try to push myself to play at the highest level."

The 16-year-old has been at Old Trafford since May 2014 after previously impressing on trial with the under-17s aged just 13.

Do you think Manchester United need to do all they can to persuade Gomes to stay at the club? Or do you think a move to Dortmund would help Gomes in his career progression?
