How many times has Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho been linked with a move to the Premier League?

According to countless gossip columns, the 25-year-old has been wanted by several clubs in recent years and the latest side to express an interest are West Ham.

The Daily Mail report that Slaven Bilic's side will launch a £25 million bid for the Portuguese international.

Carvalho, who has made 37 appearances for his country, is reportedly 'eager' to join the Premier League, with The Mail stating that a move to London would be his preferred option.

West Ham have already purchased Javier Hernandez in this summer's transfer window, and the addition of Carvalho will surely be welcomed by many at the club.

Carvalho is believed to have a release clause of £39.5million at Sporting Lisbon, and the Portuguese side have been unwilling to compromise in windows gone by.

Another club who were reportedly interested in his services were West Brom, and they made their interests clear.

Tony Pulis even travelled to Lisbon in April to watch the 25-year-old during a 1-1 draw with Benfica, but nothing materialised.

Carvalho was also linked with a move to Arsenal in July.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola linked the Gunners with a double swoop for Sporting CP pair William Carvalho and Gelson Martins, but again, nothing has yet materialised from the ongoing transfer rumours.

Do you think Carvalho would be a good signing for Bilic's side? Will he FINALLY make a move to England?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments section. He certainly has the pedigree to succeed at a Premier League side.
