Southampton are set to smash their transfer record just in time for the start of the new Premier League season.

Mauricio Pellegrino is set to bolster his squad with the addition of 23-year-old Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina.

The Gabon international snubbed a move to Stoke City this week but will sign for the Saints in an £18 million deal that could potentially rise to £20 million with add-ons.

Lemina has made 42 appearances during his two seasons in Turin, scoring three goals and lifting consecutive domestic doubles with the Bianconeri.

The former Marseille man will undergo a medical on the south coast tomorrow before being officially unveiled by the Saints, who kick off the new Premier League campaign at home to Swansea City on Saturday afternoon. Both Lemina and fellow new signing, Polish defender Jan Bednarek, are expected to be available for the clash with the Welsh side.

Lemina's £18 million arrival at St. Mary's will see the 23-year-old overtake Sofiane Boufal as the club's most expensive player, with Boufal arriving in a £17 million deal from Lille, last summer.

The Juventus midfielder has won nine caps for Gabon, scoring twice.
