Real Madrid Reportedly Call Off €50 Million Transfer After Players Complain To The Club

Real Madrid were on the verge of snapping up a new player until players intervened.

The Champions League holders are hellbent on recruiting new talent ahead of the 2018/19 season, following the mega-sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

Eden Hazard, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, to name but a few, have been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital.

What's more, it appears Real Madrid struck a €50 million deal with Valencia for the Spanish forward.

But according to Don Balon, Real Madrid withdrew their offer after receiving complaints from their players about the signing.

Julen Lopetegui was set to secure his services but called off the transfer in the eleventh hour.

Rodrigo, who graduated from Real Madrid's youth academy, enjoyed a prolific campaign last season at the Mestalla, bagging 16 La Liga goals which earned him a call-up to Spain's World Cup squad managed by Lopetegui, who was sacked days before their Russian venture.

The 27-year-old has also experienced a spell in the Premier League with Bolton Wanderers.

He lasted one season in England before sealing a switch to Benfica.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid continue to search far and wide for Ronaldo's replacement.
