Just weeks after Diario Gol reported that Cristiano Ronaldo was urging club president Florentino Perez to sign AC Milan striker Andre Silva, rumours have now emerged of another Serie A/Real Madrid transfer target.
In what would be one of the biggest transfers of the season, Los Blancos are hoping that the signing of Mauro Icardi will turn their fortunes around after a poor run of form in the league.
Is he worth the money?
In fact, Real Madrid are ready to unlock the £97.8 million (€110m) release clause of Inter Milan striker and captain Icardi, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Inter for some time, but these latest rumours are the strongest yet that Icardi will make a move sooner rather than later.
The Argentine has been in red-hot form for Inter this term, netting 20 goals in 18 games.
In fact, only Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain (104) has scored more goals in Serie A than Mauro Icardi (99) since his debut for Sampdoria in 2012/13.
As my colleague said last month, everything about Icardi screams 'Real Madrid's next Galactico' but it seems Ronaldo isn't convinced and wants Andre Silva rather than the in-form forward.

There's already been talk that he, along with Hakan Calhanoglu, could be loaned out in January as Milan look to boost their market value ahead of the summer window.

Silva, like Ronaldo, is represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has strong connections to Real Madrid.

It's said that Ronaldo prefers Silva because he would be a less problematic character than Icardi in the Real dressing room and nowhere near as likely to steal his thunder.

Icardi's contract at Inter Milan runs out in 2021, so Los Blancos will have spend big if they want to get their man.
Will the Argentine flourish at the Bernabeu if he completes a move?
