What a time to be alive. The Indian Super League will now witness the infamous 'cartwheel forward roll'.

After spells at Liverpool and Leeds, among others, former Republic of Ireland international Robbie Keane has officially completed one of the most bizarre transfers of 2017.

Keane, who made 146 caps during his international career, will join champions Atletico de Kolkata.

The 37-year-old will reunite with former Tottenham Hotspur striker Teddy Sheringham, who is currently managing the Super League champions.

"The offer to experience a new league and culture in Asia appealed to me," Keane said, via BBC Sport.

In recent years, Keane enjoyed a prolific spell at MLS side LA Galaxy. He scored an impressive 104 goals in 165 appearances during six seasons at the club, but left Los Angeles in November last year.

The former Spurs forward penned an open letter to fans on LA Galaxy's website shortly after his decision to leave: "Having now retired from international football I am ready to focus everything I have on one last major challenge in club football."
