Manchester United Reject €50 Million + Two Players Bid For Paul Pogba

Manchester United Reject €50 Million + Two Players Bid For Paul Pogba

In a bid that has been labelled 'disrespectful' and 'pathetic' by fans, Manchester United have unsurprisingly rejected an offer for World Cup winning midfielder, Paul Pogba.

Barcelona presented an offer of €50 million plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes to the Premier League side, but the bid was considered 'insufficient', according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio,

He goes on to report that United do not want to sell the 'important' player as they see him as the franchise of the club.

Let's be serious here, a bid of €50 million plus two players, who were on the fringe of first team football last season, was never going to suffice after the midfielder's impressive performance at the World Cup.

It was reported yesterday that Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, has reassured Barcelona that he will get Paul Pogba to move to the Nou Camp.

But it looks increasingly likely that a deal will not materialise after recent claims, with many criticising the reported offer.

Here are just a handful of reactions:

Back in 2016, the 25-year-old completed his move back to Old Trafford for a-then world record fee, but things could have been very different according to one of Barcelona's directors.

The French international moved back to United for a fee in the region of £100 million from Juventus amidst interest from Real Madrid, but apparently the 23-year-old was very nearly heading to the Nou Camp.

Barca director Albert Soler claims a deal for Pogba was agreed 12 months ago that would give them priority to purchase the midfielder for around £85 million.

Speaking via the Mirror in 2016, Soler said: "Last year we reached a deal with Juventus for us to have a priority option when they sold Pogba.

"This summer we decided that there were players that suited us better on a sporting level. The idea of the board was that nobody would be able to get ahead of us in the market.

"It allowed us to have options."

Rather than spending a huge amount on Pogba, the Catalan giants went for the cheaper option of buying Andre Gomes from Valencia.
