Cristiano Ronaldo was once asked about a potential move to Manchester City during an interview in 2015 - and his response suggests a move to the Premier League champions may not happen anytime soon.

The former Manchester United forward has been linked with a shock move to City in recent days, with reports in France suggesting the 36-year-old and his entourage are "seeking to engineer" a transfer in the coming days.

In fact, according to L'Equipe via GFFN, Ronaldo has spoken with a number of Manchester City players about the transfer, including Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo, as his future at Juventus remains uncertain.

That being said, in an interview with the BBC in 2015, where he spoke about Jose Mourinho, his rivalry with Lionel Messi and former club Manchester United, Ronaldo was also asked about a potential move to the Blues.

His response to the question is currently doing the rounds on social media amid all the rumours.

"You think the money is going to change my mind now?" he grinned. "I don't think so. I think it is not going to be the problem, because if you will speak about the money, I will go to Qatar.

"[They] maybe have more money than Manchester City, but it's not about the money. It's about the passion."

In the same interview with journalist Dan Roan, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner claimed he was the best player in the world. "I don't need to say 'I'm in the history of football, I'm a legend," he said.

"The numbers say everything. In my mind, I'm always the best. I don't care what people think, what they say.

"In my mind, not just this year but always, I'm always the best. It's opinions, I respect the opinions. Maybe in your opinion, Messi is better than me, but in my mind I am better than him. So it's simple.
