For many years Wenger has been mocked for becoming a parody of himself by signing youngsters from Europe, usually France, when they were totally unknown.
A run of signing the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech got rid of that label with big money moves that actually seemed to make sense.
But it seems Wenger, who has recently signed a new deal, could go back to his old ways with the signing of the relatively unknown Christopher Rocchia.
