Philippe Coutinho has completed a medical ahead of his move to Barcelona and in the meantime, everyone has their own opinion on his huge £142 million transfer to the Catalan side.

Before his medical, former teammate Lucas Leiva spoke to Coutinho on FaceTime and told him that missing out on Champions League football with Barca would mean that he was fresh for the World Cup later in the year.

"Missing the Champions League means you will be fresh for the World Cup, my friend." Leiva said via The Daily Mail.

"It's not ideal, but you have to look at things positively."

It was also reported that fellow Brazilian teammates David Luiz and Willian called to wish him well, but now a player away from the national team has thrown his opinion into the mix.

Former Juventus, AC Milan and Inter midfielder Andrea Pirlo has gone against those who claim Barcelona have paid too much Coutinho by stating that he is worth the £142 million paid.

"Other than the crazy prices, the price of Coutinho is in line with the prices of today." Pirlo told Sky Sports Italia. "If Van Dijk is worth €80 million then he costs double. It's only fair."

Coutinho's move to Barcelona has been the stand out transfer of 2018 so far, but Mundo Deportivo have reported that Real Madrid tried to ruin the party with a last minute bid.

Los Blancos apparently made a last gasp bid for the third most expensive player on the planet, to steal him from their rivals, but were rebuffed by the player.

According to the paper, they were even willing to blow their La Liga rivals out of the water by offering €200 million for the player, which would have made him the second most expensive player on the planet.

There are suggestions that, despite the apparent huge bid, it was merely a ploy from the Champions League champions to mess with the player and turn his head or to raise the price for their rivals.

All we know, the playmaker is now a Barcelona player after he completed a medical.
