Manchester City may be closing in on their first Premier League title under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola but they are already looking at the summer transfer window, when Premier League clubs will need to be extra swift in their dealings because of the reduced timeframe to complete deals.

And it seems they've already decided on who their top target is going into next season. As per the reliable Jose Alvarez from El Chiringuito, City have their eyes firmly fixed on Borussia Dortmund's deep-lying midfielder Julian Weigl, who is interested in making the switch to the Etihad Stadium.

The Germany international has been touted as one of the most promising central midfield prospects for a while now, with Manchester United and PSG said to be admirers.

Despite the uber consistent performances of Fernandinho in the defensive midfield role, City are searching for a long-term replacement for the 32-year old and for a while it looked like his compatriot Fred was the primary choice.

However, the talk is City's interest in the Shakhtar Donetsk man has cooled and they are favouring Weigl.

Stylistically, the 22-year old appears to be a perfect fit for City's way of playing and would be an excellent addition to a stupidly strong squad.
