Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Islam Slimani, Ashley Barnes and Edin Dzeko were all blips on the transfer radar after it was announced that Olivier Giroud was a Chelsea player earlier this week.

THE TRANSFERS THAT NEVER WERE XI:

Giroud joined the ranks at Stamford Bridge in a deal worth a reported £18 million as other Premier League strikers moved elsewhere.

It really was a transfer merry-go-round on transfer deadline day.

Michy Batshuayi joined Borussia Dortmund but according to the former Arsenal striker, the Bundesliga side wanted him as well as a Serie A and La Liga team.

"I had offers from Dortmund, Sevilla, and Roma, but Antonio Conte convinced me to join Chelsea." Giroud told French outlet Telefoot.

Giroud sat on the sidelines in his new Chelsea tracksuit as Giroud watched three second-half goals in 16 minutes from Bournemouth in a shock defeat.

Callum Wilson, Junior Stanislas and former player Nathan Ake gave Bournemouth a shock victory at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, but Giroud will be looking to hit the ground running

The fact that Chelsea have only lost by a three goal margin at Stamford Bridge seven times in the Premier League era says it all really.

Eddie Howe's side deserved their win, but everyone was talking about Giroud during the game.
