Newcastle United are reportedly lining up a sensational move for Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Chile midfielder has been the subject of intense transfer speculation with Manchester United also keeping tabs on his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Newcastle will have to see off competition from United though Vidal believes the North East outfit could have a "very attractive growth plan" if the mega takeover goes through.

And he could be swayed by Newcastle if they appoint Massimiliano Allegri whose been linked with replacing Steve Bruce.

Allegri and Vidal spent a season together in Italy with Juventus.

The prospect of Newcastle snapping up Vidal sent social media wild.

"Newcastle is About to be mancity 2.0," one social media user wrote.

A second tweeted: "All the potential money in football and they are after Vidal."

A third added: "Newcastle think they are playing fifa career mode ffs."

Vidal's former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Ricardo Faty reckons the sought-after player could return to Italy in the shape of Inter Milan.

"If he were to leave the Spanish club in the future, I think he would go and play for Inter. That's because he has a great relationship with the coach, Antonio Conte," he said.
