Newcastle United have reportedly moved closer to making Dusan Vlahovic their big January signing for a fee in the region of €100million.
Italian outlet Calciomercato reports claims from journalist Filippo Grassia that Newcastle have made a three-figure offer to Fiorentina for the striker, which would be hard for the Florence-based club to turn down.
But despite the huge offer, it is unclear as to whether or not the Serbia international would be willing to move to Tyneside.
The Magpies are still in the midst of a relegation battle having only won one of their 16 Premier League games so far this season and sit 19th in the table.
Vlahovic has no shortage of admirers after scoring 17 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions for 'I Viola.'
The striker's impressive for Serbia is also impressive, with a record of seven goals in 14 caps for his country.
Moves to those two clubs would undoubtedly be more attractive destinations, unless the Newcastle hierarchy can sell their long-term project to Vlahovic.
If they do somehow manage to secure his signature, then it would be an enormous coup for the St James' Park hierarchy.
Newcastle will continue to battle on with their current squad for now, as the Magpies travel to Liverpool tonight.
