Will Jose Mourinho listen?

With Nemanja Matic settling in so well to life at Old Trafford and, prior to his injury, Paul Pogba rediscovering his most destructive form, Manchester United's need for midfield reinforcements doesn't seem to be high on Jose Mourinho's agenda any more. Although that could yet change.

One of Mourinho's reported targets, Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker, has opened up in a new interview and admitted that if United were to make their interest in him concrete, he would not hesitate to move to Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old has also drawn interest from Paris Saint-Germain over the last few months, following a string of impressive displays for Anderlecht over the last three seasons. However, it was the news of United's interest that seems to have caught Dendoncker's attention the most, if a recent interview the Belgium international conducted with Sport/Foot is anything to go by.

"If it was as concrete as was being said, if they wanted me at all costs, I'd already be there.

"When you play for Anderlecht and you have the chance to go there, you don't hesitate, but Anderlecht had their bit to say. Everyone had to agree."

The Belgian midfielder impressed against United in last season's Europa League quarter-final, scoring an equaliser against the Red Devils in the first leg.

Anderlecht's asking price for Dendoncker was believed to be in the region of £34 million, but with Jose Mourinho opting for a £40 million for former Chelsea midfielder Matic instead, a move to Old Trafford for the 22-year-old midfielder never materialised.

Since making his debut for Anderlecht in the 2013/14 season, Dendoncker has gone onto make 126 appearances for the Jupiler League giants, helping them to last year's league title. He has also represented Belgium at U16, U17, U19, U21 and full international level.

Will Mourinho listen to Dendoncker's words and decide a move for the young Belgian midfielder is actually worthwhile, after all?
