Manchester United Target Has Release Clause That Kicks In Next Summer

Jose Mourinho could have another chance of signing him at the end of this season

So far this season, Jose Mourinho's summer signings have proven to be successful additions to his Manchester United squad, with Nemanja Matic regularly bossing the middle of the park and Romelu Lukaku further enhancing his reputation as one of the Premier League's most ruthless finishers.

Of course, Swedish defender Victor Lindelof is yet to establish himself as a trusted first team regular since his £30 million arrival from Benfica, but on the whole, Mourinho's business over the summer months looks to have improved his United team and returned them to being Premier League title challengers.

That could still change with the Red Devils upcoming fixture list looking like a much more daunting prospect than their opening seven league fixtures, but the form of Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in particular has made a lot of United fans forget about the club's failure to land Internazionale winger Ivan Perisic during the summer transfer window.

United were strongly linked with the Croatian wide man throughout the recent transfer window, with a deal for roughly £40 million thought to be on the table. However, with Inter wanting Anthony Martial to be involved in the deal, Mourinho called the deal off and the former Wolfsburg man remained at the San Siro.

If the Portuguese manager is still interested in Perisic, however, his task will be much easier, next summer, with the Croatia international having a release clause of £54 million kicking in at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Gazzetta dello Sport have shared news of Perisic's get-out clause, with the stipulation being added to his current five-year deal with the Serie A giants.

The Croatian winger has enjoyed a productive start to the current campaign, which has seen Inter win seven of their opening eight league games. Perisic has scored three and laid on another three assists.

Will Mourinho look elsewhere next year, though or will the United boss retain his interest in the Croatian?
