Ashley Young's time as a Manchester United player may be coming to an end.

It is believed the 31-year-old winger has asked Jose Mourinho for a loan move away from Old Trafford until the end of the season after barely featuring under the Portuguese manager this term.

Young has been used in a variety of roles since his £18m move from Aston Villa in 2011, including his usual role as a winger but also as a striker and a few appearances in each full-back berth.

Could Young join this lot in the Chinese Super League?

However, despite his usefulness as a squad player, Young appears to be surplus to requirements and has reportedly asked to be given first team football elsewhere.

The Daily Mail claim that Young's move may be met with resistance by Mourinho, who is unwilling to allow any more players to leave Old Trafford this month after selling Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton and Memphis to Lyon.

The England international has recently, along with every player in Europe's top five leagues, been linked with a big money move to the Chinese Super League, but is believed to favour a move to another Premier League club, with West Ham, West Brom, Swansea, Crystal Palace and Young's former club Watford all reportedly registering an interest in the winger/utility man.

The former Villa man has made 150 appearances for United, scoring 14 goals and lifting the 2013 Premier League title and 2016 FA Cup during his five years with the club.
