Jose Mourinho is looking to make some ambitious moves in the transfer market

Once calendars hit March, barely a day goes by where Manchester United are not linked with mega money moves for an assortment of the world's biggest names, wonderkids and Nicolas Gaitan.

With the end of the season in sight, transfer rumours are once again beginning to accelerate at a ferocious rate, with Antoine Griezmann proving to be this year's sequel to the 2016 Paul Pogba saga.

The likes of Benfica duo Victor Lindelof and Nelson Semedo and Monaco pair Kylian Mbappe and Tiemoue Bakayoko have all been strongly linked with the Old Trafford club since the turn of the year and now another couple of targets have apparently made their way onto Jose Mourinho's Summer shopping list.

After seeing Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan initially struggle to adapt to the Premier League, following moves from Italy and Germany respectively, it is believed that the United manager is now favouring players already accustomed to the pace and physicality of the Premier League.

While Griezmann reportedly remains Mourinho's number one, the Portuguese manager also has his sights firmly set on two players from United's top six rivals.

According to reports, Tottenham's Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld and Chelsea's Willian, who Mourinho knows from his most recent spell at Stamford Bridge, are wanted by the United boss.

Alderweireld is currently in negotiations over a new contract that would see his current minimum fee release clause of £25m abolished. The Belgian international would be a solid addition to United's defence which, although currently the third most water tight in the Premier League, still isn't convincing enough for Mourinho's liking.

Willian, meanwhile, has been signed by Mourinho before, after 'The Special One' swiped the Brazilian attacker from under the noses of Tottenham, sealing a £30m deal for the former Shakhtar Donetsk man in the Summer of 2013 from Anzhi Makhachkala.

The 28-year-old has seen his role at Stamford Bridge reduced under Antonio Conte's stewardship and is fondly remembered by Mourinho for his efforts during last season's disastrous first few months, which eventually saw Mourinho and Chelsea part company for a second time.

Willian was targeted by United last Summer, as well, with the Blues star confirming as much in an interview with Globo Esporte.

"There were enquiries, yes. It was from Manchester United, because Mourinho is there too. From other clubs I don't know but there are always some things on the internet. I'm glad to hear that there are clubs that admire my work."

Both players are ambitious targets for Mourinho, with both Spurs and Chelsea likely being unwilling to sell important players to another potential title rival for next season.
