Manchester City are 'in pole position to sign' Sporting CP sensation Bruno Fernandes.

Goal claim City are in advanced talks over the signing of Fernandes in a deal worth a reported £43 million.

Manchester United are also keeping tabs on Fernandes but City are favourites to secure his luxurious services after recent talks between the club and Jorges Mendes.

While the super-agent isn't Fernandes' client, it's believed he has been drafted in to complete a deal.

The 24-year-old has had quite the season in Portugal. He's bagged an impressive 31 goals and 17 assists in 50 games from midfield. Yes, midfield. That's impressive.

The Portuguese international has 11 caps to his name and Bernardo Silva rates him very highly.

"Bruno is a great player," the City star said about his international colleague.

"He has had a fantastic season with many goals, many assists that are not normal for a player of his position, he has the best numbers and we'll see what happens at the end of the season.

"He is a player who can play in other championships."

Pep Guardiola currently boasts the likes of İlkay Gündoğan, Kevin De Bruyne, Fabian Delph and David Silva, among others, in midfield.

The addition of Fernandes, who's brimmed with skill and creativity, would improve his side ahead of the 2019/20 season.
