Real Madrid have completed the signing of Ferland Mendy from Lyon in a deal worth up to £47.1m.

The Spanish giants were recently linked to the left-back and his acquisition was confirmed today after penning a six-year deal.

"Real Madrid C. F. and Olympique Lyonnais have agreed the transfer of Ferland Mendy," reads the club's statement.

"The player has signed a contract with the club for the next six seasons, running to the 30th of June 2025.

"Mendy will be presented on Wednesday the 19th of June at 1:00pm CEST in the VIP box at the Santiago Bernabéu.

"Mendy will then set foot on the Santiago Bernabéu pitch for the first time wearing a Real Madrid C.F. jersey and speak to the press."

The 24-year-old has made 79 appearances for Lyon since moving from Le Havre in 2017.

He's been dubbed as the 'Kylian Mbappe of left-backs' following his breakout season this past campaign.

"He's the Kylian Mbappe of the left-back role," said agent Yvan Le Mee."Contrary to popular belief, the left-back position is the most requested after that of a striker because they're very difficult to find.

"Mendy is good offensively and defensively, which is very rare. Balanced guys, who are exciting going forward and very strong at the back, are very rare. At his age, there's no-one better.

"Apart from Andy Robertson, who won't move from Liverpool, there's no such talented player in that role available, especially as Lucas Hernandez has a different profile."

Meanwhile, Real Madrid remain strongly linked with more additions. From Manchester United's Paul Pogba to Tottenham's Christian Eriksen.

Mendy will arrive this summer alongside Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard.

Zinedine Zidane means business. Quite literally.

Will Madrid sign any other players?

Sound off in the comments.
