Youri Tielemans is expected to be Leicester City's club record signing with the talented Belgium midfielder nearing a move.

Tielemans traveled to England on Friday with Leicester and AS Monaco close to agreeing a £40 million transfer according to Sky Sport's Rob Dorsett.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a superb spell on loan at the King Power Stadium last season with the Foxes on the verge of sealing a permanent deal.

He played 12 Premier League games, scoring three goals after switching sides in January.

After Tielemans' stunning showing in Leicester's 3-0 win over Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers praised the youngster and said the club will do everything they possibly can to sign him.

"What he's paid to do is create and score and he's doing it very well," the Leicester gaffer said back in April.

"It was a wonderful cross from James [Maddison] and it's important you have players that are hungry to score and it was a great strike as well in a game that was very, very close.

"He's shown great efficiency since he's been here and for his age he's got great maturity in his game and I'm very pleased for him."

Rodgers added: "I'm not sure [whether Leicester will sign Tielemans permanently]. I think there will be dialogue between both clubs. He's clearly a player we would like to work with but I can't really add much more to that.

"I can understand the supporters will like to watch a young player like that and I'm sure the club will do everything they possibly can to bring him in."

Leicester have already made inroads this transfer window by snapping up James Justin from Luton Town and Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United.
