David Beckham will officially announce his plans for a Miami based MLS franchise this month and is targeting a major name to join his Florida revolution.

The former England captain's aim is to have his Miami club up and running within three years and wants Cristiano Ronaldo to be at the forefront of the MLS' newest franchise.

Ronaldo would be 35 by the time the Miami team is ready to go and may wish to see out his trophy laden career Stateside.

The four time Ballon d'Or winner has been linked with end of career moves to America several times in the past couple of years, with LA Galaxy also thought to be interested in taking the Portugal captain on board after he calls time on his incredible era at Real Madrid.

During his eight years at the Bernabeu, Ronaldo has lifted two La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, two Copa Del Reys and two Club World Cups as well as becoming the club's all time leading goal scorer in the process, with an insane record of 407 goals in 396 games.

MLS Commissioner Dan Garber has recently said that the league's plan is to move away from signing big names who are approaching the end of their careers, but an exception would be made if a player of Ronaldo's calibre was open to a move to the States.

Garber said to Mirror Sport: "I hope we don't move too far away from recognising that having global icons play in our league can deliver all sorts of value and technology. Not just in terms of ticket sales and commercial benefit, but it inspires young people here.

"They might be influenced by playing the EA Sports games or watching the Premier League or Bundesliga and yet might not have a local MLS team.

"If you can bring in an icon like David Beckham in his day or what [New York City's Spain international striker] David Villa is doing today, if you can have those players who are followed on a truly global basis.

"I'll never mention names because I get infuriated with coaches mentioning players in our league. But there are clearly players around the world who resonate."

Could two of the beautiful game's most iconic number sevens be teaming up in 2020? If anyone could make such a move happen, you'd think it would be David Beckham.
