Since his arrival at the King Power Stadium from Caen last Summer, N'Golo Kante has been the biggest revelation of the Premier League season, dominating Leicester's midfield en route to putting the Foxes on the brink of a monumental title victory. However, things could have been so much different for the French midfielder.
In a recent interview, West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed how Kante almost signed for the Hammers, before eventually joining Leicester in a deal worth just over £5m.
"We were quite close, quite close [to signing Kante]. I had watched him in France.
"He was a good player, the same player he is now at Leicester - a holding midfielder, not very tall but he is one of those players that after 20 minutes you think there are twins.
"You think there is two of him because of his energy and his intelligence, he is always there. "
"When you watch the television, he is always in shot, he is never out. That is not only big lungs, big legs or a capacity to run, it's also intelligence.
"He was on our list, but then we got some other players for the same position and it was too many players for the same role."
Bilic's men will come up against Kante on Sunday where the Frenchman will have another opportunity to show Hammers fans what they've missed out on as Leicester look to edge closer to that historic Premier League title victory.
