Jorge Mendes Is In Barcelona On Manchester United's Behalf

Just as sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, Jorge Mendes will spring to life in the summer and promptly earn himself enough money to fill an Olympic size swimming pool with and cannonball into ala Scrooge McDuck.

The Portuguese super agent, who has already brokered the £46 million deal that saw Bernardo Silva trade Monaco for Manchester City, arrived in Barcelona yesterday, taking a taxi from the airport straight to the Camp Nou.

Gomes, meanwhile, is attracting the interest of both Manchester United and Juventus, with United allegedly attempting to accelerate a move for the former Valencia man in the past week, following Jose Mourinho's revelation that the Old Trafford club would not be bringing in Monaco midfielder Fabinho, this summer.

Unlike Turan, Barca are not too keen on allowing Gomes to leave this summer, despite the 23-year-old enduring a relatively poor first season at the Camp Nou.

New Barca manager Ernesto Valverde is reportedly a fan of Gomes' and believes he still has an important role to play at the club.

Whether Gomes will leave Catalonia is unclear at this moment in time, although Blaugrana officials are firm on one thing regarding any potential deal for the Portugal international, and that is he will only be able to leave if a suitable replacement is secured.
