He appears to be United bound...

Brazil international Fred dropped the biggest hint that he's Manchester United-bound yesterday, swiftly deleting a tweet but not before fans picked up on it.

The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder came on as a substitute in his country's 2-0 win over Croatia at Anfield but late last night he sent out a tweet from Manchester as a move edges ever closer.

Much to the excitement of the red half of Manchester, the 25-year old accidentally left his location on when tweeting about the game he had just been involved.

He quickly deleted the post and tweeted it again without the location attached to it, but in this day and age it was never going to be brushed under the carpet.

The normally reliable Fabrizio Romano says Fred to United is a done deal, while Simon Stone from the BBC is reporting that the transfer is expected to be completed very soon, with a medical to take place early this week before the reported ÂŁ52 million move is officially confirmed.

Fred had been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City on the other side of the city, even being quoted as saying he was "waiting for the phone call" from manager Pep Guardiola.

A January move never materialised but a summer move still looked to be on the cards. However, record-breakers City cooled their interest in the former Internacional man and are now pursuing Napoli's deep-lying midfielder Jorginho.

That has enabled United to move in, with the club's first deal of the transfer window seemingly imminent.

If United don't announce him by having him unmask himself as mascot 'Fred the Red', then they are seriously out of touch when it comes to unveilings...
