Arsenal's transfer business is certainly questionable at the best of times, but Arsene Wenger might have outdone himself on this occasion with an 'embarrassing' bid for a Real Madrid striker.
Just months after they failed with a £92 million bid for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar on transfer deadline day, Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal side have decided to try and complete the bargain of the century.
The Premier League side have made a £40 million bid for Karim Benzema.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Real Madrid have laughed at Arsenal's opening bid for Benzema and president Florentino Perez has reportedly labelled the bid as 'embarrassing'.
A report from Diario Gol claim that Perez simply 'can not believe it' and as it states in the piece, £40 million for one of the best strikers in world football is a tad outrageous. His overall record at Real of 182 goals in 375 games is quite decent, after all.

Gary Lineker might have something to say about Arsenal's offer for Benzema after his opinions on the French striker have gone viral in recent weeks.
The former Barcelona striker branded the Frenchman as 'overrated' during Real Madrid's Champions League clash with Tottenham at the Bernabeu, where Spurs came away with a point.
Benzema failed to get on the scoresheet that night and didn't enjoy the best of games, prompting Lineker's tweet:
Benzema responded during an interview with Les Inrockuptibles, via MARCA, "The criticism from ex-footballers who become journalists, some of who only share their hate, I feel sorry for them, frankly.
