Fernando Torres was snubbed of a January move.

Transfers are flying in with deadline day approaching. The striker merry-go-around between Chelsea-Arsenal-Borussia Dortmund continues to hot up with the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Olivier Giroud and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dominating the window.

And another striker who remains subject to speculation is Torres.

The Spaniard is pretty much deemed surplus to requirements at Atletico Madrid following the arrival of Diego Costa.

But securing a move away from the Spanish capital has proven to be difficult.

Ligue 1 outfit Rennes rejected the chance to sign Torres, opting to snap up West Ham's Diafra Sakho instead according to French outlet L'Equipe.

Rennes reportedly thought his goal return wouldn't justify his financial demands.

Torres, 33, is believed to be considering his future at Atleti, but a switch to France failed to materialise despite initial appeal.

He's also been attracting interest from Italy with the tomorrow nights deadline looming.

The former Liverpool hero returned to his boyhood club after a nine year stint in England's top flight in 2014, which also saw him ply his trade at Stamford Bridge.

A loan spell eventually turned into a permanent deal, with Torres' days at Wanda Metropolitano looking numbered.
