Dimitri Payet Takes West Ham Protest Even Further

As if refusing to play for or train with West Ham's first team, the Hammers' wantaway playmaker Dimitri Payet is now refusing to attend training sessions with the club's U23 team, further breaching his contract as he aims to force through a move back to Marseille.

Payet, who last played for West Ham in their 2-0 home defeat to Manchester United on 2nd January, has attempted to force through a return to Marseille for the majority of the winter transfer window, facing a furious backlash from fans in the process.

The Frenchman, who only just signed an improved contract at the London Stadium last Summer, seemingly proving his loyalty to the East London club, has had his mural from outside the London Stadium removed in the aftermath of his protests and has, unsurprisingly, been the subject of some new chants echoing around the Hammers' home ground:

The former Lille and St. Etienne man is even willing to take a £20,000-per-week pay cut to return to the South of France, where L'OM are set to offer him £100,000-per-week on top of the £25.5m transfer fee they are willing to part with to secure his signature.

Conflicting reports have stated that Payet is both on the verge of a return and that a deal is still some way off. Expect this story to rumble on until the very last minutes of the window.
