Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu has officially completed a £65 million switch to Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan.

Talk of the mega deal happening came about last month but the transfer dragged on until now, with Guoan confirming the deal on their social media channels:

Bakambu has signed a four year deal with the club and joins up just in time for the new Chinese Super League season, becoming the latest marquee addition in the Far East.

The former Bursaspor and Sochaux man has already been training with his new club for a while despite the move not being completely over the line, but with it all being finalised, becomes the most expensive African player of all-time, displacing Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and also moving ahead of Liverpool trio Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The Congolese forward had scored 46 goals in 101 appearances for Villarreal, including 12 this season. Roger Schmidt's side also completed a move for fellow La Liga star Jonathan Vieira, who joined from Las Palmas.
