Having lost their opening two Premier League games of the season without scoring a goal, Bournemouth are in need of an injection of creativity going forward and Eddie Howe is looking to make that happen before the transfer window closes, next week.

The Cherries manager has seen his side lose 1-0 and 2-0 to West Bromwich Albion and Watford, respectively, in the opening two weekends of the new season and is now looking to revive his interest in Leicester City winger Demarai Gray.

Bournemouth initially had a £20 million bid for Gray turned down earlier in the summer, but now will attempt to force a deal over the line before next Thursday, when the transfer window closes until January.

Gray was in fine form for the Foxes during their 4-1 Carabao Cup victory over Sheffield United, last night, scoring a spectacular solo goal and laying on another.

Despite his man of the match display at Bramall Lane, last night, Gray is still expected to be returned to the substitutes bench by Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare for Saturday evening's visit to Old Trafford as the 2016 Premier League champions take on Manchester United.

Gray has started just 10 Premier League games for Leicester since arriving at the King Power stadium in a £3.5 million deal from Birmingham City in January 2016. The 21-year-old has since become frustrated with his lack of regular first team action and has also caught the attention of Tottenham and Everton in recent months.

While Leicester are unwilling to sell the former Birmingham youngster, their hand may be forced with Bournemouth's potential offer of £26 million plus add-ons.

A deal of almost £30 million for a first team fringe player may make the Foxes board think twice about their stance on the England U21 international.

Leicester are also considering offering Gray improved terms on his current contract, according to the Mail which still has three years left on it, in order to convince Gray to remain in the East Midlands.
