Unlucky, AS Roma.

It appeared the Italian outfit had secured his services after agreeing personal terms and a price with Bordeaux.

AS Roma struck a €36 million fee with the French side and had a provisional deal with the Brazilian starlet worth a reported €2.5 million on a five-year contract.

A bunch of teams including the likes of Arsenal and Spurs were keeping tabs on Malcom with AS Roma on the verge of completing a transfer.

However, in the eleventh hour, Barcelona entered the race while reportedly lodging a more lucrative offer in the region of €41 million.

AS Roma and Bordeaux have yet to sign any contract which frees up negotiations with Barcelona.

Barcelona look set to hijack the Malcom transfer at the last minute with the player due to undergo a medical at AS Roma.

Fans were even waiting for his arrival in Rome. But, obviously, he didn't turn up.

The 2017/18 La Liga champions turning their attention to Malcom could suggest a move for Willian is off the table.

The club tabled a few unsuccessful bids for the Chelsea attacker as they look to reinforce their attack ahead of the new season.
